Divine Honor and Dignity
Scripture – Esther 10:3 (NLT)
“Mordecai the Jew became the prime minister, with authority next to that of King Xerxes himself.
He was very great among the Jews, who held him in high esteem, because he continued to work for
the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all their descendants.”
There are people you will meet in life—at work, in school, or in everyday spaces—and you can tell
something about them is different. Things seem to align for them. Doors open. People are drawn to
them without effort. That is not always strategy or luck; sometimes, it is
divine honor and grace at work.
Divine honor shows up in different ways. Sometimes it is the result of a parent’s prayers.
Sometimes it flows from a personal, consistent prayer life. But at its core, divine honor is rooted
in relationship with God.
Scripture gives us clear examples. Daniel walked in divine honor. Esther experienced divine favor.
Mordecai rose in divine dignity. These were Old Testament figures—before the blood of Jesus and before
the covenant of grace as we know it today. Yet they had something powerful: a life of prayer and
genuine relationship with God.
Prayer is simply communication with God. Even outside the covenant of grace, these men and women
spoke with God and walked with Him—and heaven responded. Now we live under the covenant of grace.
Access is fuller. The door is wider. So the real question becomes: what is our excuse?
This year has been declared a year of divine honor and dignity, but these realities are sustained by
intimacy with God and consistency in prayer. Divine elevation without relationship is fragile.
One more thing must be said: good character is non-negotiable. Honor may introduce you
to rooms, but character is what allows you to remain there. You cannot walk closely with God and
remain unchanged. A genuine relationship with Him always produces growth, refinement, and better
character.
Happy New Year, and may God bless you richly.
